I have heard various survivors say something along the lines of: “If only he had hit me, I would have known it was time to leave“. Leaving a physically abusive situation is by no means easier, but I do understand the notion that physical violence is more easily defined as ‘wrong’. Mind you, there is no physical abuse without mental and emotional torture too, or else leaving would be so much easier.
So, how do you know it is time to get out?
