Healing is hard work, we have to train our mind and our body to forget about triggers and normalize healthier behaviors and thought patterns. Much like professional athletes, we are constantly honing our training. Sometimes we feel frustrated and we want to just give up. Just remember that your gold medal may be just around the corner!

“‘One word: ‘Fight.’ Anyone can do it when it feels good. When you’re hurting, that’s when it makes a difference, so you have to keep fighting.”

–Erin Cafaro, 2008 rowing Olympic gold medalist in women’s eight

Breath Through the Pain

Just like training your body, training your mind can be painful. Building mental toughness will help you on your way, and will make your journey easier in the future.

“‘Breathe, believe, and battle.’ My former coach, Troy Tanner, told us that before each match. Breathe—be in the moment. Believe—have faith that you can rise above it. Battle—you gotta be prepared to go for as long as it takes.”

-Kerri Walsh, two-time beach volleyball Olympic gold medalist

You Have What It Takes

You can do this, if you believe it. Find the support and knowledge you need and keep training your mind. Every person has that spark that will set their soul ablaze. Yes, you too!

“Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each of us.”

– Wilma Rudolph, gold medalist in athletics in 1960 and bronze medalist in 1956

Mental Weightlifting

Our minds get stronger with all the mental weightlifting we do! A stronger minds means that memories will begin to hurt us less, that we recover quicker from emotional injuries… Like I said, we are the Olympians of Healing!

“Nothing can substitute for just plain hard work.”

– Andre Agassi, gold medalist in tennis in 1996
