This was a very interesting discussion. I would like to know if Monkey had given her partner any description of her parents before he met them? I always warned friends and partners what my NM was like because I tried to limit the damage that might occur during or after their visit.

    Hi Serenity,
I don’t think I really did, or at least I cannot remember doing so. I don’t think I was aware enough to utter a warning. Still Jah_Rasta was the first significant other I introduced to the family. Non of us were ever very keen to introduce boy friends.
I guess our saving grace may have been that our relationship developed while we lived far away from my family. That meant that he got to know quite a lot through me talking about the latest drama, rather than being part of it. They would visit and I think he observed a lot then too. But the visits were generally short and I could usually manage them without full-blown mayhem. Although I am sure he would notice significant changes is me, even in de days after they would leave…
