The Healing Academy Plus Members are focussing on Healing Mindset this quarter. We are looking at all the ways that our own inner-voice can help or hinder our healing.

In light of the workshop, I decided to share some of my favorite Instagram posts on the topic with you.

#1. Change Our Thoughts To Change Our Life

I guess this lies right at the heart of SwanWaters and The Healing Academy. Unless we change how we think about and respond to people, circumstances, ourselves… we are just going to be running around in circles.

#2. Fall In Love With The Journey

You’re on this journey…you may as well enjoy the view, darling. That’s not to say that you won’t have days where you feel frustrated, mind you. For me, it just means beginning to view triggers and memories as interesting challenges rather than inconvenient distractions. It is an opportunity to know myself better, improve my life further and connect with my loved ones on a deeper level.

#3. The Gift Of Pain

It took me many years too, but I can now see how the pain of my past was the foundation for the support I can now offer all of you and the healing I can bring to the world. If you can’t see it yet, give it time my dear.

#4. It Takes Time

Don’t be impatient with yourself when it takes you time to heal, it isn’t a contest or a test of your productivity. You can’t rewind a life of trauma in a week. Be kind to yourself and give yourself the time and space you need.

#5. Finding Joy

Healing isn’t just about drudgery and hard work. It is also about finding things that you enjoy and that charge your battery. The more joy and gratitude you find, the easier the healing becomes.

#6. A New Way To Be

I know we kinda covered this in the first post, but it is so important that it bears repeating!

#7. The Flame Of Pain

While dealing with trauma, you may feel you are at the mercy of your own mind. Yet, it is important to remember that you are in the driver’s seat. You are not at the mercy of your past, you are learning the best ways to wield its amazing power.

#8. Flower Or Weed

How you view and judge yourself, your life, your past, your progress…it all influences how you deal with your life. Some things may seem objectively bad, but perhaps you can find the silver lining, and make it shine brighter than the full moon.

#9. Growing Wings

Sometimes, healing just kinda happens without you noticing it. Not until you stretch your wings, do you realize that you grew them. Not until you need them, do you realize just how strong they are.

#10. The Positive Choice

I can’t say often enough, that positivity isn’t about pushing down complicated or negative thoughts and feelings. It is about noticing the good ones, and giving them more emphasis through the day.

While I may technically be the Director here at SwanWaters, my unofficial title is Healing Cheerleader! I’m a survivor of childhood emotional abuse and workplace bullying. And believe me when I say that I’ve walked the walk when it comes to healing from trauma. I firmly believe that we can undo some of the damage that abuse has done to us, and learn the necessary skills to handle life and all it brings us.
