As much as we would like to just stop feeling the pain and the grief in our lives, we cannot just pretend it isn’t there. In order to heal we need to feel.
All survivors have those types of triggers. In fact, sometimes it can be a smell, or a song, or seeing someone in the street who looks just like our abuser.
We need to acknowledge that people need time, space and support to heal from emotional trauma. ANYONE should be able to say: I am hurt, please help me heal.
